Just wanted to hop on here real quick and give an update on what we found out about Kennedy's echo she had done on her heart. Her doctor said that she has a bi-cuspid aeortic valve. Apparently you're supposed to have 3 leaflets on your valve and she does have 3, but two of them are fused together making it work like a 2 leaflet valve. Her doctor is referring her to a pediatric cardiologist, but she did tell me that she has another patient with this and all they have to do is see the cardiologist once a year for checkups.
So I came home and googled it, of course. :-)
I found out that it's a hereditary condition and that it occurs in about 1-2% of the population. Here's what I read on Wiki:
In many cases, a bicuspid aortic valve will cause no problems.[4] However BAV may become calcified later in life, which may lead to varying degrees of severity of aortic stenosis that will manifest as murmurs. If the leaflets do not close correctly, aortic regurgitation can occur. If these become severe enough, they may require heart surgery. People with BAV may become tired more easily than those with normal valvular function and have difficulty maintaining stamina for cardio-intensive activities-due to poor heart performance. The heart is put under more stress in order to either pump more blood through a stenotic valve or attempt to circulate regurgitation blood through a leaking valve.
Hopefully she'll be just fine. She sees the cardiologist in April.
Thank you to everyone who said prayers for our sweet girl!

Thank God it sounds like she will be just fine!!
Knowing its name makes it easier. I'm so glad the prayers worked and that she's going to be OK.
Was so glad to see an update on Kennedy- glad everything turned out well with testing. I do the same thing- google---> a mom's worst nightmare, haha!!
I've been thinking of you with all the twisters that hit. I need to email you with the IN travel plans (that unfortunately, I won't be able to partake in).
hope you are well!
I'm so glad that she will be ok!
