Seashells & Silver

I made this post last night and then noticed today that The Inspired Room is having a linky party where we all show off ways that we took things we already had and gave them a new use. I thought my silver bowl fit the bill, so I decided to join the party. Make sure you stop over and check out The Inspired Room when you're done here. She has a really beautiful blog!

Today my brother stopped by and brought me a present from his trip to Florida. Before he left, I had put a bug in his ear that I would love it if he brought me back some seashells or maybe some sandollars. I was thrilled when I opened the bag up and saw all of this neat stuff! I was in beachy seashell heaven!

I quickly began searching for a bowl to display them in. I came across an antique bowl my mom had given me that I currently didn't have a use for. It has a silver rim on it, but it was badly tarnished. I must confess, I actually like the look of it tarnished, but I thought that if I could use Tarnex and get the silver all shiney again, it would look beautiful with my new shells inside it.

Here is the before:

And here is the after:

Loves it!

And here it is with some of my new treasures inside it!

I also displayed some of the new shells and coral in my crystal bowl...

I have no idea what this thing is, but I think it's so cool!
A giant sandollar...

I must say, my bro has excellent taste in seashells! Ha! Bill, thank you~thank you!!! You need to go to Florida more often! Except next time, take me with you! ;-)

I've been thinking about bugging my mother-in-law (who recently moved to FL) to ship me some shells. I may just have to do it because I REALLY want them. :)

Yours are gorgeous!
